The University of Toledo Department of Music Announces a New Piano Competition for Young Pianists
We are thrilled to launch our inaugural Piano Competition, a new addition to our Dorothy Mackenzie Price Piano Series, open to talented young pianists aged 12 to 17. This competition aims to celebrate and support the next generation of musicians by providing them with valuable performance opportunities and financial assistance to help further their musical education.
We invite young pianists to showcase their skills and passion for music in a dynamic
and inspiring environment. Participants will have the chance to perform before esteemed
judges, connect with fellow musicians, and compete for prestigious awards and scholarships.
Details:
- Preliminary Round via submitted audition videos
- Finalist invited to compete in person before a panel of esteemed pianists, including the Dorothy Mackenzie Price Guest Artist
- Cash Prizes of $500, $300, and $200 for 1st-3rd Place
- First place also receives a performance opportunity in a future Dorothy Mackenzie Price Piano Series masterclass, solo recital at local venue, and scholarship* from the University of Toledo Department of Music.
2025 Registration information
NOV 1 – Online application portal opens
FEB 20 – Deadline to submit completed application, registration fee, and preliminary round recording
MAR 1 – Finalists announced
MARCH 29 – Final Round in person at the University of Toledo's Center for Performing Arts
A completed registration includes:

- Submission of pre-screening video/s
- Payment of $25 registration fee. (Follow Online Payment link below.Ìý Enter $25 for "Payment Amount" and "Add to Cart", then enter name of competitor and "Piano Competition" for purpose of payment.)
Completed Registration for the March 29, 2025 competition is due no later than 11:59 pm, February 20, 2025. Payment must be made by credit card - link below.Ìý Eligibility age as of March 29, 2025: ages 12-17
To complete the application form, you will need:

- Names, age, birth date, and address for the participant
- Name and contact information of current piano teacher
- Titles/Composers of repertoire submitted in pre-screening video/s
- Active link/s of pre-screening video/s
