Scholarships

Every year the College of Arts and Letters awards donor scholarships to both new and continuing students. Visit the scholarship search tool page to see all the scholarships you may be eligible for. Some are need-based others are merit-based. Deadlines to apply will vary from scholarship to scholarship.


Scholarship Opportunities in the College of Arts and Letters

Below we have highlighted some of the many scholarships available in the 果冻传媒 College of Arts and Letters (CAL). You can find more by using the search tool above and filtering your search by categories such as college, G.P.A. or financial need. You can also search by your major, by area of interest and other search terms. You'll be surprised how many scholarships you are eligible for.

Department of Art Scholarships

  • Scholarships are awarded annually to both entering freshman and continuing students. To apply for these scholarships, please visit the Department of Art site for details and deadlines. You need to apply for these scholarships within the department.

Department of Communication Scholarships

  • The Department of Communication offers student majors scholarships, internships, financial aid, and work-study programs. Last year the department awarded over $70,000 in scholarships. If you're eligible, take the time to apply. See a list of current communication scholarships on the department website.

Department of Music Scholarships

  • Scholarships for music majors are available to qualified students. Non-majors may receive scholarship assistance by playing in selected ensembles and studying privately. To apply for these scholarships, prospective students must complete an audition.聽

Writing Scholarships

There are a number of scholarships awarded to CAL undergraduate students in recognition of excellence in writing and creative expression. These are just a few.

  • Coventry Award - This scholarship is awarded to students based on the submission of a paper written for a class or an independent study. The theme of the paper must be related to social justice, including topics such as race/ethnicity, gender, nationality, sexual orientation, or age.
  • The Fern R. Kalmbach Memorial Scholarship is聽awarded to male students entering their senior year who are majoring or minoring in English. Recipients must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and must exhibit great skill in creative writing.
  • The Jeanette Nuneviller Brand Memorial Scholarship is awarded to students majoring in English, particularly those with a particular interest in creative writing, drama, or teaching English composition.
  • The Marsha Marenberg Powers Scholarship is awarded to students in the College of Arts and Letters. Preference is given to graduates of Toledo Public Schools majoring in English, writing, screenwriting, or literature.

These are just a few areas. There are also scholarships in economics, geography and planning, history, political science, women's and gender studies, world languages, and many other degree areas within CAL. Happy hunting!
