Divisions: Critical Care
The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit is a highly structured atmosphere for the care of
critically ill or injured children. In-depth teaching rounds with complete resident
participation in the diagnosis and treatment of these patients are the standard in
this setting.
The specialty of Pediatric Critical Care offers a broad spectrum of disease processes
and therapeutic interventions. The patient population includes, but is not limited
to, trauma, cardiac, neurological, pulmonary, infectious disease, general surgery,
neurosurgery, etc. Residents will be exposed to the latest state of the art technologies.
The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit holds daily rounds where the resident is involved with diagnosis, assessment of labs and data, and the responsibility of developing a therapeutic plan for the patients.
