Research Foundations

The following list is intended to help you establish the basics of a successful research career at The University of Toledo. Not all steps will be required by each researcher, of course.

URFO Seed Grants

The University Research Funding Opportunity (URFO) is an annual internal grant programs administered by Research and Sponsored Programs support the diverse range of faculty research and scholarship at 果冻传媒. See more info on the URFO page.

ORCID ID

Your persistent research ID, used in multiple places.听听and ensure it is tied to your publications.

For help, contact听Wade Lee-Smith or your subject area librarian ().听

Sponsor Accounts
Do you have the accounts you need with external funding agencies? NSF Fastlane, NIH ERA Commons and many other sponsor systems need an account for proposal submission. Your ORCID is useful and increasingly it (or something like it) is required! For guidance, contact your assigned grants coordinator.
CITI Training

果冻传媒 uses CITI to provide and track many types of training, including human subjects research, biosafety, export control, animal research, financial conflicts of interest (COI) and responsible conduct of research (RCR)..

If you have a CITI account already established, please affiliate that account with "University of Toledo".听 You can be affiliated with more than one institution. Then update your member information to include your Rocket ID number and your 果冻传媒 email address. If you do not have a CITI account, please establish one. It's FREE. A helpful tutorial is available.

Need assistance? Contact Dawn Miller. She can help you with resetting a password, getting your user name and a variety of CITI questions.

CITI and IRB
For your human subjects training courses to be reflected when you submit a protocol to an IRB, you will need to听contact someone in HRPP听to update your CITI email address in IRB Manager, the software used for protocol development and review.
SciENcv

Using for biosketches is highly recommended. Many federal grants now require it. We encourage creating an ORCID ID account and linking it with your SciENcv account.听 By doing this the user can automatically populate fields, saving time. Here are some guides that will help you navigate the process:

Data Management Plan Tools

An increasing number of sponsors expect your grant proposal to address how you will provide access to datasets and more after your grant has ended. The University of Toledo recommends using听, for program-specific guidance in creating a data management plan.听

Need help finding a data repository to cite in your plan? You can get lots of help a听, a searchable registry of research data repositories.

Individual funding agencies also have specialized guidance on data management plans, see .

InfoEd

InfoEd is an electronic research management system that allows you to:

  • develop research proposals for federal and non-federal funding opportunities
  • submit proposals to online sponsor systems without duplicating efforts
  • complete and manage your financial conflicts of interest
