ENRICHMENT AND EDUCATION PROGRAMS
JOURNAL CLUB:ÌýCHPM scientists and trainees hold weekly meetings where published papers of high
impact in the fields of hypertension, cardiovascular and metabolic physiology and
disease Ìýare presented and discussed.Ìý
SEMINAR SERIES:Ìýthis series is co-sponsored with the Molecular Medicine (MOME)Ìýgraduate program and other basic and clinical departments in the College of Medicine
and Life Sciences. Seminars on a variety of topics related to hypertension, metabolic
disorders and cardiovascular disease in general are presented by extra- and intra-mural
experts.
GRADUATE STUDENT EDUCATION:Ìýseveral CHPM faculty members are actively involved in graduate student education inÌýthe Molecular Medicine (MOME)Ìýgraduate program track, which is part ofÌýthe Biomedical Sciences Graduate Education program at the University of Toledo College of Medicine and Life Sciences. This program provides students with the necessary training and tools to become independent scientists.Ìý
MENTORING AND SCIENTIFIC WRITING ASSISTANCE: a core group of CHPM scientists provides mentoring to junior faculty in developing
laboratory management skills, and to trainees, junior and established faculty in manuscript
preparation, and reviewing/editing of grant proposals.
RESEARCH WORKSHOPS:Ìýscientists from CHPM hold regular meetings to foster interdisciplinary collaborations
and discuss grant proposals.
ANNUAL HYPERTENSION RESEARCH SYMPOSIUM:Ìýon September 22, 2015 CHPM scientists and trainees participated in the First Annual
Symposium on Hypertension Research held at the College of Medicine and Life Sciences
campus, as part of the inauguration week to honor University of Toledo's 17th President,
Dr. Sharon L. Gaber. The proceedings of this memorable event were published in the
JCCTR Newsletter.
