Surgery-Specific Benefits:
Certifications:
Fully paid certifications in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support, Advanced Trauma
Life Support and Basic Life Support during residency.
Educational Conferences:
Chief residents will have the opportunity to attend a national conference of their
choice.
All residents who have a paper or poster accepted for presentation will have support
from the department to attend the conference.
Lab Coats:
Interns are provided with two scrub coats and all other residents will receive two
new coats per year with their names embroidered.
Meals:
Meal tickets are provided to each resident when on in-house call.
Professional Membership Fees:
Yearly membership fees are provided to the American College of Surgeons and attendance
at the Toledo Surgical Society.
Resident Activities:
Social activities are organized throughout the year by the Department of Surgery Graduate
Medical Education Office and Alumni Office of the University of Toledo.
Textbook/Education:
Each year, residents will be provided with a surgical textbook, gifted by Drs. Mary
White and Hollis Merrick. Each resident is provided with access to SCORE and ABSITE
Quest.Â
Vacations:
R1: 3 weeks (or 15 standard working days)
R2-R5: 4 weeks (or 20 standard working days)Â
