Opportunities at The University of Toledo


°¿³Ü°ùÌý is the centerpiece of our official partnership with the University of Salzburg.

  • The program has been in existence for over fifty years.
  • Each year there are 15-20 undergraduate students in the program.
  • You can take part for the entire year or one semester.

Our undergraduate study abroad program welcomes students from all accredited colleges and universities. You can participate

  • if you have at least one year of college German or the equivalent by the start of the program,
  • will be at least a sophomore, and are in good academic standing.
  • Students from all majors can participate for the full academic year.

ÌýUniversity of Lüneburg Study Abroad Program

In 1996 The University of Toledo joined , a consortium of North American universities with programs in various countries throughout the world.Ìý The USAC German program is located in the town of Lüneburg, about 30 miles south of Hamburg.Ìý UT students register through The University of Toledo; students may choose to study for one or two semesters or for one or two summer sessions in Lüneburg.Ìý Ìý Ìý ÌýÌý

Cost:Ìý UT students pay UT tuition as well as a program fee.Ìý USAC provides living accommodations, either with a family or in student housing.

Prerequisites:Ìý Ìý Students at all levels are eligible to participate.

ÌýUniversity Credit for Study Abroad

Any student interested in earning UT credit for study abroad MUST complete all necessary paperwork before leaving to participate in that program.Ìý Depending on the nature of the program and the student's German background, credit can be earned for the two designated Study Abroad courses in German--GERM 2190 or GERM 4190--as well as other courses.Ìý The Study Abroad Advance Approval FormÌýmust be completed before travel .

Herbert Schering Award in German Studies

Applicants must have completed at least 2 German courses at The University of Toledo and have at least sophomore standing at the time of the award.Ìý Preference is given to declared German majors or minors.

ÌýMarianne Bigney Scholarship Award in German Studies

For academic year program participants only:Ìý Applicant must be enrolled in a German class above the intermediate level at The University of Toledo.Ìý Preference is given to declared German majors or minors.
