GRADUATE Advising

An advising syllabus offers many benefits that can enhance our work with and for students. In addition, it can be the catalyst that leads to important explorations and questions about the role of advising on our campuses. Advisors often help students navigate between curricular and co-curricular issues; an advising syllabus is one way we can help students close the gap between the two. An advising syllabus can support students' active engagement in their education instead of simply receiving information, students are explicitly expected and encouraged to fully participate in the advising relationship.

GRADUATE CATALOG

Your catalog provides you with important information regarding graduate education at UT including admissions information, academic regulations, and related policies.

Graduate students are expected to become familiar with the academic regulations of the University and the specific requirements of their graduate program. The student is solely responsible for complying with all regulations of the University, the College of Graduate Studies and the department of instruction, and for meeting all requirements for the degree. The student should consult with their advisor on a regular basis to ensure that they remain on track within the degree program or in the event that there are any questions concerning the requirements for the degree.

Tuition and Fees

Each graduate student receives bill notifications electronically via their University of Toledo-assigned e-mail address instead of paper invoices. The e-statements will be posted by the date designated in the “important dates” of theOffice of the Treasurer’s website.

CODE OF CONDUCT

The Student Code of Conduct gives general notice of prohibited conduct and the potential sanctions to be imposed for such conduct. The policy further sets for the requirements for notice and the opportunity to be heard with regard to allegations of violation of the Student Code of Conduct.

The Student Code of Conduct should be read broadly and is not designed to define misconduct in exhaustive terms. The Student Code of Conduct specifies the rights and responsibilities of the students, student organizations, the university, and the rights of other parties to the procedure.

ACADEMIC POLICIES AND PROCESSES

The Division of Student Affairs strives to enhance the student experience by addressing the needs of students through collaborations, programs, and services. In conjunction with the University of Toledo, John B. and Lillian E. NeffCollege of Business and Innovation recognizes a student’s right to due process. The University understands the need to assure that student grievances about faculty actions are evaluated fairly and equitably and, for this purpose, UT has an established academic grievance policy and procedures for graduate students. Prior to filing a university grievance form, students should follow the internal process for John B. and Lillian E. NeffCollege of Business and Innovation. After John B. and Lillian E. NeffCollege of Business and Innovation ruling has been determined, students may still pursue the university process if they so desire.

Getting involved allows students to become connected to the University of Toledo and John B. and Lillian E. NeffCollege of Business and Innovation. You will be able to discover new friendships, grow your network, and most importantly discover yourself.
Getting involved allows the opportunity to build your resume and position yourself for future employment. You have the opportunity to gain a competitive advantage over your fellow graduate students.

Getting involved provides another opportunity to have fun, practice time management and organization skills, and fine-tune the soft skills employers are looking for (communication, teamwork/collaboration, adaptability, problem-solving, and conflict resolution).


GRADUATION

When you are nearing the completion of your program, you must file an application to graduate. Apply online through the myUT portal. Use the "Apply to Graduate" link located in the My Records section of the Toolkit menu.

There is a one-time (per graduate degree program) Graduation Services Fee of$125assessed prior to degree conferral. This is assessed the first time you apply for graduation from a graduate degree program. Once your application has been processed, the fee will not be refunded. If you find it necessary to withdraw your application and apply for a future term, you will not be assessed this fee again.
